Brett "Shaggy" Duffee was born in the heart of Cajun
Creole cooking. As many children of New Orleans he was thrust into the
kitchens of many restaurants to earn his keep. However it wasn't until
he arrived in Memphis that he realized his true passion was food. He was
fortunate to hone his craft in many of Memphis's finer restaurants.
Felicia Suzannes, Tsunami and Automatic Slims. Eventually he became
Executive Chef of both Do Sushi Bar and The Beauty Shop Restaurant where
he received many rave reviews.
"Best New Chef in Memphis."-John T Edge. The Southern Foodways Alliance.
"Bordering on Genius."-Fredrick Koeppel-The Commercial Appeal.
As his popularity grew he was asked to cook at The James Beard House,
for the Southern Foodways Alliance and for the Viking Corporation. In
2006 Leslie Kelly of the Commercial Appeal voted his the Best Restaurant
in Memphis. He has been written up in The Commercial Appeal, Memphis
Magazine, The Chicago Sun-Times, Garden and Gun Magazine and the Food
and Wine Magazine.
With his passion for the Southern tastes of his youth combined with his experience in flavors near and far he brings his unique perspective to Equestria Restaurant where he hopes to raise the eyebrows and the bar of Memphis cuisine.
